The Carlsons’ winery is a favorite stop for both
locals and visitors, because it’s as fun and unpretentious as its wines Visitors feel so at
home, they often pause to enjoy the aroma of
the lilacs in the Carlsons’ front yard, or sip wine
and picnic in a backyard bordered with flower-
beds full of towering hollyhocks and a shady,
ancient apricot tree. Many also take snapshots
of the Carlsons’ giant green wine bottle wreath
made by neighboring artist, Lyle Nichols.
One or both of the Carlsons are usually on hand
to pour tastes in the tasting room and to chat.
Just ask, and they’ll take you in the back into the winery to show you the winemaking process.
They’ll give you advice on what to have with
Carlson wines, they’ll give you tips on cooking
with Carlson wines, and most certainly, they’ll
turn you into a believer that wine is fun.
